In 1980 Marion Roberts put an advert in the local Herald “Anyone interested in playing Hockey competitively and forming a team”. The response was amazing and positive and so we started training at the Sports Hall at Ullswater Community College and played friendly fixtures on the Schools Grass pitches.
The Cumbria League was formed and eventually England Hockey brought in the rule that all games had to be played on Artificial Pitches. There was definitely a shortage of these surfaces in Cumbria resulting in all our home games being played at Dalston School for several years. Players came and players went but the Club continued to survive playing in the League and County Competitions.
The arrival of the Astro Turf in Penrith has seen the Club go from strength to strength, offering a fantastic training facility and allowing the Club to grow.
Many of or Club players have be selected to represent the County over the years. Today we have Junior training/teams girls and boys at U10/12/14 playing in county competitions, a Women's 1st team playing in the North West Division 2 and a Women's 2nd team playing in North West Division 3.
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
